At Emerald Custom Pools (ECP), we go above and beyond the industry standards to ensure the highest level of durability and strength for your pool. While the accepted practice in the pool construction industry typically uses 3/8″ steel rebar on 12″ centers, ECP uses industry-leading 1/2″ steel rebar on 10″ centers.
This superior rebar configuration provides extra reinforcement, ensuring that your pool is built to last and can withstand the test of time. The increased thickness and closer spacing of the rebar improve the structural integrity of your pool, reducing the risk of cracks and shifting over the years.
The rebar sticking out of your pool is an essential part of the pool construction process. It will be bent down into the decking to tie the pool structure and the deck together. This connection ensures structural strength and durability. This also helps to minimize movement between the pool and deck over time.
You may notice that the bottom step of your pool is not formed out of steel. This is a standard part of the pool construction process. Instead, the steel at the bottom of your pool acts as the rebar for the last step, providing maximum flexibility for the gunite crew to form the bottom step during the gunite application phase.
This approach ensures that the bottom step is seamlessly integrated into the structure of the pool, offering strength and durability while allowing for precise shaping.
